The ‘Holy Week’ That Was
Last March 20 to 22, for the Holy Week break, my hon, Pia, Mark, and I embarked on a road trip to Pundaquit, San Antonio, Zambales.
With Mark on the wheel, we started on a three-hour drive to Zamba late in the afternoon. It was the first time for all of us to experience passing through the newly-opened SCT Expressway. And oh, it was also the second time for me to experience getting pulled over inside the Subic Freeport Zone for some traffic violation. Hahaha!
We reached Pundaquit at around 9 pm. By that time, all resorts were already fully-booked. After a mad search for any vacancy, and a near-trip back to Olongapo, we finally stumbled upon a pretty little cottage resort to the rightmost edge of the beach. We had dinner, played cards and rested for a while, then went to sleep. The following morning, we went to Capones Island to bake under the sun and frolic on the shore. We got so tanned and sunburned!
The trip was also Mark’s 27th birthday celebration (March 22), so it was doubly fun.
By the way, the resort we stayed in was one of the best resorts in Pundaquit. It’s called Royal Patio Beach Resort. It’s further down the beach from Nora’s Beach Resort, which is one of the more popular resorts in Pundaquit. Royal Patio was great—the cottages were clean and new, and the food were affordable; however, some of the owners and staff were not so friendly with other customers.
Overall, it was one awesome beach trip.
