My Happyness List

Happyness doesn’t have to be complicated.

Sometimes we get too caught up with obsessing over the grander things that we forget that the fleeting moments, the simpler things, are what we really should be happy of.

And sometimes we get wrapped up in blissful moments—which is exactly what we need to survive in this crazy world.  With that in mind, I created a list of the simplest things that make me happy.

Staring at the warm blue of the ocean.Staring at the warm blue ocean.

Indulging in a huge tub of healthy frozen yogurt.

Paul van Dyk!

Dancing (and listening) to awesome music.

What’s in your happyness list? ;)

My Happy Halloween Long Weekend

Last Thursday, Red and I missed our Coron, Palawan trip for the long weekend due to a good friend’s emergency. I was ready to cry over spilled milk (in this case, wasted tickets and the chance to relax and get tanned), but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. By not going to Coron, we were able to attend a main office event the following day—our company’s Town Hell, town hall and Halloween party in one. It was my first big event at our company and I sure had one hell of a fun (pun intended). My team dressed up as horror psychiatric ward patients and doctors (we won first place!), while my boyfriend’s team came dressed as Japanese school boys and girls in PE uniforms.

Yes, I am your psychotic doctor from hell. (I look so ugly and scary!)
Later that night, strong winds were blowing and rain was falling, but it didn’t stop us from attending Bigfish’s CREAM Halloween Ball, featuring DJs Agnelli and Nelson. We had super fun seeing people dressed up in all kinds of weird, ugly, hot, tacky, brilliant, and cool costumes, and dancing til our feet literally can’t take it any longer. We went home early, around 1.30 AM, just when the rain was getting even stronger. Too bad we didn’t get to hear Agnelli and Nelson play. It was still an awesome night though, and I can’t wait to attend next year.

On Saturday, we rested, spent time for ourselves, and tinkered with my new HP Mini. We had home-cooked dinner with his family, and then we left to visit my family and have our traditional pizza night with them. Despite the typhoon scare, the day went well and the way all rest days should be: quiet and lazy. Come Sunday evening, after a whole afternoon of eating, lazing around, poring over my new Mini, bonding with my family, and sleeping, my boyfriend and I took our baby Chiquito for a stroll at Serendra and Boni High Street. We haven’t spent quality time with him for a long time, and I’m glad we did. He surely had fun.

Ahh, the happy life. My Halloween was awesome, and I hope yours was, too. :)

My Adidas King of the Road 2009 Experience

Last Sunday, together with some friends, my boyfriend and I ran at the Adidas King of the Road 2009. I thought we would be getting some royal treatment for Php500 (our most expensive run to date), and the reputation of the organizer (hello, Adidas), but I couldn’t have been more wrong.

I have been to only three runs (one as an audience), but of all the three, the Adidas King of the Road was the worst. The Condura Run for Home was ok—the spirit was light and lively, the cause was made pretty obvious, and the run was a bit more organized. Globe’s Run for Home, so far, is the best run I’ve attended. I’m not saying this because I was connected with them back when I ran, but because I was not hassled in anyway. The race packet distribution was quick, the registration was hassle-free, and the race itself was awesome—Champion Chips were distributed (for a mere Php300 race fee), there were drink stations every kilometer or so (approximately), and the race results were highly detailed.

With Adidas King of the Road, I expected (maybe this is where I was wrong), to at least drink water without having to worry whether or not it is clean and potable, and I expected to be able to run without hassle, knowing what kilometer we were onto.  Don’t get me started on the pre-race, too.  Claiming the race kits was a total hassle (read a fellow Blogger’s take on the claiming day mess here).

Maybe I really just set my expectations too high, or maybe I didn’t do my homework—-while running, my friend told me that every year, it’s the same situation. She’s been to five Adidas KOTR runs, so I asked her, as I was rather baffled, why she keeps on attending every year. Her answer was simple: she likes the colorful singlets. Singlets or no singlets, Adidas and the organizers could have improved on the race’s bad aspects, considering that Adidas KOTR has been in Manila for a long time now. Oh well, it was still a nice enough experience, but I guess I would just have to wait til next year to see if they would improve.

Anyway, below are some photos from the event. I hope you enjoyed KOTR:)
